We are remodeling our bathroom and can’t find a countertop. We would like some kind of natural stone but granite is too shiney. We didn’t like Corian. Any other suggestions?

I am planning on remodeling my bathroom in about 2 years but in the meantime I want to paint it and make it look better. I just do not want to put too much money into it since it will be coming down in a few years. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
There is also one large wall that I want to put something on or against so it is not so boring. Maybe some kind of molding or chair rail if it is not too hard to put up.

we are remodeling our bathroom. The countertop is shot but our cabinets are still in great shape. They are not solid wood…they are wood faced. They have been painted once already but I don’t like the color. I am concerned about painting it as I don’t want the paint to scratch or chip off. Any suggestions as to how to assure this will not happen.

I’m recently remodeling our bathroom and we’re adding travertine on the walls above our bath tub and are planning to pain the bathroom as well. What colors go well with travertine? I want to make it a neutral color, but I don’t want it to be so boring. HELP D:

About 4 weeks ago I had a complete bathroom remodel done, everything demo’ed and all new put in.
Is the grout supposed to get darker when the shower is in use? The old tile was not like that, also I keep discovering tiny holes in the grout, that weren’t there before.
Is either of these something to worry about, or will it cause me problems down the road?
I ended up having the contractors from hell, I had to double check everything thing they did, for 3-4 days in a rowI had a punch out sheet daily with between 15-20 items listed that needed to be done and/or corrected.
Are the things I mentioned regarding the grout just more to add for them to fix? I don’t think the grout was sealed, and I don’t know if that is part of the job or an add on, does anyone know what the industry standards ares?
Thank you in advance.

I need to remodel my bathroom and install a jacuzzzi tub (floor, vanity, shower, etc.) and I want something better than the things you find at Lowe’s or Menards or Home Depot, but am afraid of the prices in smaller stores. Any suggestions? I live in the Carmel area. Thanks!

I need to remodel my bathroom, but I have no clue how to find someone to do it for me. I could just find someone who advertises in the want-ads, but I don’t know. Or I suppose I could go to Home Depot and have them do it. How do people typically hire someone for this sort of thing?

It’s a first-floor bath with a sliding door between a toilet and the tub – there’s a sink on either side of the door. I’ll tear out the carpet to save time and $, but there is linoleum under that. Don’t think we need a new subfloor. I’d buy the tile, the vanities and the toilet if it would offset the cost. How much should this be? I’ve heard a range of prices that goes from reasonable to ridiculous.

The bathroom remodel is 98% done but the door needs staining and the molding trim needs painting.
I’d also like to make two batches of beer.
Both of these activities smell, and my family would rather not be around when I do them, but I’m not sure I’ll have time for both. Which one should I do first?

My friend referred a guy. So far he’s installed a new tub with a surround. The surround had a visible scratch but he installed it anyways…so I couldn’t take it back. The tub spout doesn’t sit flush to the surround on one side. He just got done putting down ceramic tile….no grout yet thank god. When I came home I noticed the grount lines were uneven in various spots. I told him about this – he came to fix them. But now those tiles are higher than the others. I’m fed up and I feel guilty for having to "fire" him – but I’m trying to cut my losses.

In other words, if you want to remodel a bathroom that has a blue bathtub, is there any way you can keep the blue bathtub, and make it work with a modern bathroom?

no high end stuff just mid-line price fixtures and tile. I already got an estimate but it seems very high to me.

bathroom remodel
71 1/2 inches outlet area to Shower. outlet is on the wall to the rear. if you draw a straight line back along the side of the tub … back and up the step and up the wall ..then the line would be just right of the electrical outlet. So if i was to put glass all the way back the electrical out let would be outside of the enclosed shower area. BUT Where would I find a frame like that, a frame that would make the step up If I just put up normal square frame and end the frame at the step up. it would look awkward with a frame just extending straight up in the air at that point. I was thinkng to have a shower curtain. That would be alot better to clean & maintain. But how to get a J or L shaped curtain rod to work. What about guide rail curtain mounted on ceiling. Please send pics or links to recommendations.

I am in the middle of having my bathroom remodeled. The only thing left to pick is a light. We have a ceiling light instead of one on the wall. Would it be weird to put a ceiling fan there? Does anyone have this or heard of this? The contractor told me to pick out a light so he could install it. I have a spare small ceiling fan and wonder if that would look nice. I have very tall 9 1/2 foot celing in the bathroom so it would be up pretty high. What do you all think?
