bathroom remodel

71 1/2 inches outlet area to Shower. outlet is on the wall to the rear. if you draw a straight line back along the side of the tub … back and up the step and up the wall ..then the line would be just right of the electrical outlet. So if i was to put glass all the way back the electrical out let would be outside of the enclosed shower area. BUT Where would I find a frame like that, a frame that would make the step up If I just put up normal square frame and end the frame at the step up. it would look awkward with a frame just extending straight up in the air at that point. I was thinkng to have a shower curtain. That would be alot better to clean & maintain. But how to get a J or L shaped curtain rod to work. What about guide rail curtain mounted on ceiling. Please send pics or links to recommendations.

I just got my bathroom remodeled and I spent the extra dollars for a granite countertop. It looks beautiful but I need to know how to care for it. I know granite is porous and over time it can lose its shine if not cared for. How do I clean it(what products & where to buy) and what products do I use to keep the shine? I spend a lot of time in Lowes,Home Depot and in Bed Bath and Beyond. Let me know if any products are in these stores. Thanks

    Remodeling Bathroom Ideas/Estimate?

I am looking to remodel my bathroom. The bathroom is very small! About 5 ft wide and 6 1/2ft long. Just to give you a visual of the layout-
when you walk in there is a tall cabinet to the left, a short/single sink vanity on the right, a normal toliet on the left next to the cabinet and the tub/shower is situated in the back of the bathroom. Our flooring is old and would probably need to be replaced as well. All in all, I would like to replace the floor&tile, vanity, shower, toliet, and add a different storage area. Please give me input about how much you think this would be or suggestions on design/layouts for the bathroom.

    Mystery Leak. Advice?

My downstairs neighbor told me this morning that he heard dripping on his ceiling around the time I was in the shower (first time he heard it). He said it was really loud and thinks that I’m doing serious damage. He claims a leak ocurred with the previous owner–toilet gasket? And that there was a pipe leak once before several years ago. #1. I know NOTHING about plumbing. So I’m anxious about what kind of repairs I could be in for and how even to begin #2. I have limited info. How do I find this mystery leak? Even if I call a plumber will the whole floor/ceiling need to be opened up to find it? There is space between my floor and his ceiling. #3. A friend suggested that it could be the tub drain and that the tub might have to come out. I bought this place a year ago & the bathroom is really ugly. The previous owner had bathfitters — or the like installed to create a shower stall with the tub. If the tub comes out, will this require me to completely re-do the bathtub/shower stall?

The old bathtub was not framed and not level, so there was some water damage. We want to do it right this time. The right side of the tub will be on the outside wall. It is a left-drain tub. The back wall is 200 yr. old brick and some bricks are crumbling, but the walls are very thick. Don’t know if it’s possible or not to make it all level to put a 3 piece surround and shower in or not. Some water damage on floor & drywall but floor is drying out–not beyond salvage. Drywall on wall was ripped out up to first 2 layers of tile. Don’t know if better to tear all tile out or just replace tub. Water damage was coming from tub not being framed or level, so we have gotten to root of the water damage, we’re certain.

Small bathroom 6′ X 8′ needs new toilet, bathtub with shower, pedestal sink, & walls and floors re-done. Plumbing needs replaced too.

    Bathroom Remodeling Problem?

We are buying a house, and just got it inspected. Rot was found next to the bathroom, and the floor gave a little (next to the tub) How much do you think to replace the floorboards & replace the tub? What about mold & dry rot? We don’t close for another month. – what to do

My bathtub is in good shape but the tub/shower surrond is horrible & I would like to replace it with something – either a new one or even possibly tile over the existing one – can tile be put over this or should we just install a new surround? and how difficult is this to do ourselves? Any help is much appreciated

    Bathroom remodeling question?? (D.I.Y.)?

Seeking professional advice from fellow D.I.Y. folks. I am starting a complete bathroom remodel, What should I start ripping out first? We will still be using this bathroom off an on if needed, as a guest bathroom. Everything is coming out at one point. But I am not sure where to start. I am replacing or getting rid of the half paneling, the lighting, sink and huge avocado green vanity & cabinet, toilet, floor, wall paper under the 3 or 4 layers of paint, ceramic tile in the shower, and finally the bath tub. What would you start with??

Our bathroom has been torn apart for over a month and yesterday we started laying the plywood for the floor. He went in there & pooped right after he had been outside and with us in the next room! Then he did it again tonight!! He’s never done this before.

    Remodeling bathroom in trailer?

What’s avalable for wall covering, I don’t want to use wall paper or wood panel due to the humidity, & moisture. How about plastic panels or similar something that’s easy to install & clean. Any good suggestions out there??? No tile either

I had a new bathtub installed & contractors removed plastic. Some of the adhesive & plastic stayed on the edges of the tub & I have tried getting it off with scrubbing sponge, Lysol Cleaner. The only way has been scraping it off with my fingernail. Do you know an easier way to take it off without hurting my new tub?

My seventeen year old daughter is going away with some friends on a roadtrip, and while she’s gone, I want to redo her room.

She’s always saying she wants to redo it, but she has no ideas on how yet.

So I thought as a nice suprise, i’d do it for her.

I need some ideas on stuff to get her, and heres what she needs.

    1. She got rid of everything on her walls, she said she grew out of it all, so I need things for her walls.
    2. Some things to put around the room in decoration.
    3. Some things for her desk, etc.

Her favorite color is purple, so her walls are purple and so is her bedding.

Also, i’m redoing her bathroom, which is pink, so I need some tips on that.

If your sixteen/seventeen/eightee… and can give me some pictures of what your rooms look like, or if your a mother who has a child that age, that would be really helpful.

Or to find something online and give me a picture.

    Thank you everyone.
btw, she loves her wall color, bed color, and bathroom color.

I need ideas for accessories because she said she outgrew them all.

    thanks for any help!
    More about her:

    *She’s girly
*She doesn’t want poster of people
    *She doesnt play sports
*She doesnt wear lots of make-up
*She loves having friends over to hang out
    *She has a small room
*She doesnt like the playboy bunny
*She’s trying to get rid of her desk so she can have more room

I found a pic of a bed she REALLY likes, but its WAY to expensive, if you can find something VERY similiar, but ALOT cheaper, that would be AMAZING!
