Hi,
I will be remodeling our house. Our house is 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms.
I want suggestions about replacing the bathroom tub (cast heavy iron) with either a custom tile job (all tile, nice travertine) or a basic fiberglass?
We will remodel our biggest bathroom, costs of materials don’t matter to me, we have a son and were both working professionals. The area is ok, middle class.
Thank you

My husband has always done an excellent job at remodeling and fix it jobs but where do we even begin? He has previously completely gutted and remodeled 2 bathrooms but the plumbing was already in place. Does it have to be done by a licensed professional?
We live very rural, no zoning etc. It is actually an old farm house we are renovating!

We are about to purchase a 1918 home that had the bathrooms remodeled in the 40′s. The original owner went from a claw foot tub to a tub and shower. The entire bathroom is covered in Marlite. My plan is to remove the Marlite and install wainscoting on the walls, but I would like to tile the shower surround. Do I need to take the Marlite off first, or will the tile adhesive be able to stick to it?

I have 3 bathrooms and I need to update them. However, I know that there are some structural water/ fungal damage as well. How do I start the remodeling process? Do I need to hire a contractor or a bathroom specialist? Any advice/ hint you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I have a couple questions. First, I am trying to find pictures online of remodeled bathrooms and all I seem to find are large, expensive high end renovations. I am on a budget and have a small bathroom to work with. Its extremely outdated and needs a full renovation, not just replacing a counter top or painting. Does anyone know of any websites that have before/after pictures of regular bathrooms that are new? That dont involve a spacious room with a jetted tub and separate shower etc.
Also for people who have renovated recently, could you tell me what you paid?
Thank you!

I am doing complete bathroom remodeling now. I am replacing floor, walls, cabinets.. etc.. I ripped of everything, you can just see the wood floor and the studs.
Now I have a question…..
Initially, all my water valves in that bathroom were coming from the walls (which I think was convenient). But later we invited some plumbers to change all our water pipes in our house to pvc. And in our bathrooms they drilled holes into the floor.
They install need water valves from the floor.
Do you think it is better if those water valves (for sink and toiled) are coming from walls or floor?
Should I invited them again to change this? (I still have 1 year warranty from them, I am not sure if this can covert it).
or do you think I could make it myself?
ok.. thanks.. so to remove old tiles from those areas, I just need to disconnect the valves from those water lines?
what can I use as temporary closure for those water lines?

Hi
I am having my bathrooms remodeled. I am purchasing the stuff myself at home depot and then just paying for the labor.
He told me I need to but the wall.tile grout plus saddles(not sure if I am saying that right) Is this normal to ask for that?
Thanks!

Okay, in my apartment there are 2 bathrooms, but only one shower. One bathroom is in my roommates room, and the master bathroom is in between our rooms. Every day without fail, she will clog the drain with hair, leave hair on the floor of the rub, and leave a disgusting ring around the shower. She will then proceed to use my q-tips and lotion. THEN she will blow her nose (with my toilet paper, mind you) and throw it in the trash can when there is no bag. Instead of just going to the kitchen and getting a trash bag, she will just continue to throw trash in the bin with no bag. Its disgusting.
Anyway, then on top of that she acts like the house is hers. She brings in paintings or decorations, and takes down the decorations/posters that I already have up, saying "oh, well, mine match the couches." And then she will move things around like the furniture and not consult with me or our other roommate. I keep explaining to her that she shares this apartment with 2 other people, and she cannot just waltz around like it is her’s, but she doesn’t seem to get the point.
Ugh, I almost forgot… she will turn her music up super loud at all hours, but then if anyone else in the house makes ANY noise before 10 AM, she comes out of her room and tells them to be quiet. And she will do little things to piss us off, like nailing things to the wall at 6 in the morning. Its just ridiculous.
hahah and if I can’t move out? =p

when I built my house I thought I would save some money by leaving out the tub in one of our bathrooms and just make it a powder room. It has a toilet and a sink. I am on a concrete slap. my house is not raised up. The room is big enough to add a tub and I would like to do that now BUT…. the toilet is wear the tub would need to fit and then I would have to move the toilet to a differnt place beside the tub. How hard is this to do?
