Remodeling Bathroom Ideas/Estimate?

I am looking to remodel my bathroom. The bathroom is very small! About 5 ft wide and 6 1/2ft long. Just to give you a visual of the layout-
when you walk in there is a tall cabinet to the left, a short/single sink vanity on the right, a normal toliet on the left next to the cabinet and the tub/shower is situated in the back of the bathroom. Our flooring is old and would probably need to be replaced as well. All in all, I would like to replace the floor&tile, vanity, shower, toliet, and add a different storage area. Please give me input about how much you think this would be or suggestions on design/layouts for the bathroom.

I just moved into a new place. A new shower head was installed in the bathroom before I moved in. But when I pull the knob to turn the water to the faucet, the faucet works but the water still streams from the shower head, splashing all over the bathroom. The knob to change the water from shower to faucet is a little metal knob you pull up on that is located on top of the faucet. How can I fix this?

Bathroom remodeling…matching?

I am just getting started with remodeling my bathroom. I went to home depot and saw several faucets and shower heads etc. What i didnt see was a complete set with all of these part matching (ie, all stainless steel of the same type/look). Basically I would like my faucet and shower heads, handles etc to match. It seems like they should be all sold together but it isnt. Is that too much to ask? Does anyone know any companies that sell these parts as a set so they match?

In Da Tub…

Hop in!

This is gonna be a long one, so bear with me…

I just moved into a new apartment that I happen to be the very first tenant of. Lucky me, right? Well, not totally. Among the 10′s of other problems I’ve come across…after I shower, there’s a lake of water on the bathroom floor that I don’t know how to prevent.

Here’s what’s happening…The bathroom has a ton of marble, the floor, and the walls where a shower/bath enclosure would normally be are all marble. When the bathtub was installed, they left about 3" between the wall with the faucet and the tub. There’s about 1-2" on the side, and maybe 10-12" in the back. The tub and the walls are connected by more marble which is all sealed and is fine…but it sits about half an inch below the height of the tub. So, the water that hits the walls and runs down, all collects in this little area and drains out around the tub and onto my floor.

So, my question is: Is there any way of preventing this, short of putting up another shower curtain along the walls? I’m sure someone else has run into this problem…do they make some kind of product that deflects the water straight into the tub or something?

Thanks!
wanna: It’s not that the shower head is pointed towards the wall, it’s just the water that bounces off your body when it hits you. I already pointed it pretty far over and it’s lessened the amount of water that collects, but it’s still a lot.

db: Yes, of course I have a landlord and he is aware of the numerous other things that plague this apartment. But, when he stopped by to check those things out, the gas had not been turned on yet, so I hadn’t used the shower yet and was unaware of this particular issue. I’m not sure anything can even be done by him about it without having to rip apart the bathroom…

Our new house that we’re renting is about 100 years old. The taps in the tub are directly connected to the shower, and there is no actual faucet in the tub, only a stump in the wall that show the remnants of where one used to be. How difficult would it be to install a faucet in this tub, and about how much would it cost? My stepfather would be able to do it, as he repairs things for a living, but I’m just curious about how much time and labor it would take, and how much it might cost.
