i just had my bathroom remodeled a month ago, but i think i need to re-grout some areas around my bathub so that water soes not go into the walls.

how do i grout those lightly grouted areas by myself??

i know i have to go to home depot and buy a small tub of matching color grout. but what else do i need? i metal scraper thingy??

and then how do i grout it myself?

or do i just buy some of that special tape to tape around the bathub area instead of the grout?

what is the best way to do it myself? thank you!!!!!!!!!
i have marble tiles by the way.

the caulking sounds interesting espceially the silicone one cause i need something that will keep water out of the walls.

thank you!!

I need to remodel my bathroom and install a jacuzzzi tub (floor, vanity, shower, etc.) and I want something better than the things you find at Lowe’s or Menards or Home Depot, but am afraid of the prices in smaller stores. Any suggestions? I live in the Carmel area. Thanks!

I need to remodel my bathroom, but I have no clue how to find someone to do it for me. I could just find someone who advertises in the want-ads, but I don’t know. Or I suppose I could go to Home Depot and have them do it. How do people typically hire someone for this sort of thing?

Where can I find them besides the yellow book? Is home depot and lowes a good option?

I just got my bathroom remodeled and I spent the extra dollars for a granite countertop. It looks beautiful but I need to know how to care for it. I know granite is porous and over time it can lose its shine if not cared for. How do I clean it(what products & where to buy) and what products do I use to keep the shine? I spend a lot of time in Lowes,Home Depot and in Bed Bath and Beyond. Let me know if any products are in these stores. Thanks

Small bathroom remodeling ideas?

I have a small bathroom that is like, 4 ft by 8 ft roughly. I am trying my hardest to find ideas that will make my bathroom look fresh and open. Right now it is a very yucky pale tan with white paneling half way up the wall. Im keeping the white paneling because Its a nice accent to the room. I have this vinyl flooring in there that’s very dark mixed shades of brown/rouge, its weird. Im going to lay down new white or light colored floor but I need some ideas for paint. I have three blue rooms in my house already so I cant do that ha ha. I was thinking about installing a pedestal sink so open up the room but I don’t really know how to install it with the piping and everything. Is this easy to do? So, paint ideas to open the room and pedestal sink advice. Thanks!
FYI- I have a special spot in my room for a bedroom vanity that Im buying so I dont really need the counter space in the bathroom. The only thing i do at the sink is wash my face, brush, and put in my contacts.
You know what, I did some research and they have brand new all-in-one vanities at Home Depot that comes with a sink top and everything. Im thinking of just getting one of those so I have storage.
Im definitly going to do that. They have some really nice oak and white finish ones for like about 0 which is great for my budget!!

Replacing a bath tub- DIY? Loaded question!?

We just purchased a home and want to replace one of the bath tubs. It is rusty around the drain, chipped in a few places and just generally filthy. It’s a basic bathtub and we were planning on going to Home Depot and just buying a new, basic model tub. There is nothing wrong with the tile around the tub (it actually looks new) and the plumbing works fine. My question is, can we do this on our own (we have little to no handyman skills!) or do we need to hire someone. Does Home Depot install them with the purchase? How much does that cost? Or, is it cheaper to refinish the tub through a company like Rebath? Can you buy the inserts at Home Depot and do those yourself? I couldn’t find them online. Thanks for any tips and info!

Bathroom remodeling…matching?

I am just getting started with remodeling my bathroom. I went to home depot and saw several faucets and shower heads etc. What i didnt see was a complete set with all of these part matching (ie, all stainless steel of the same type/look). Basically I would like my faucet and shower heads, handles etc to match. It seems like they should be all sold together but it isnt. Is that too much to ask? Does anyone know any companies that sell these parts as a set so they match?

Hi

I am having my bathrooms remodeled. I am purchasing the stuff myself at home depot and then just paying for the labor.
He told me I need to but the wall.tile grout plus saddles(not sure if I am saying that right) Is this normal to ask for that?
Thanks!

I’ve been looking around the internet trying to find some general guidelines for doing this and have learned a lot, but I still have some questions. Mostly all I have found is installing shower pans, which I assume would be similar to what I have in mind, but I’m not sure if there are some slight differences.

Should the liner go up higher than for a shower pan, or is the idea to seal the lower area and floor regardless of how high the water level would generally be? To me, it seems like it should be high enough to reach the top of the lowest tub wall at least, or close to it since you’ll be filling the tub with water.

If I need the liner to go higher, do they make them long and wide enough? I saw one on the home depot site that is sold in 5′ by 40′ rolls. The 40′ should be far more than sufficient, but not so sure about the 5′ (plus, I’d have all this liner left over). I don’t see that I could really double up on the liner. Seems like it would defeat the purpose.

Another thing, should the edge of the tub be wider for a tub than a shower curb to support the weight of being filled with water? If so, how much wider?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

By the way, I plan to do this myself, so suggestions on making it as easy and cheaply as possible (without skimping on quality) would also be helpful.

Oh, and any input on how installing a concrete tub compares cost and difficulty wise would be greatly appreciated.

Besides home depot and lowes, I’m looking for some stores that might even have a back room with discounted things. I can’t really find any online either, in CT.

I am remodeling a bathroom and kitchen who should I go with Lowe’s or Home Depot ..tell me your horror stories

When I mean best — it would be price for brand name products (e.g. hardware). Also, any tips on what you would suggest for hardware. links to pictures would be great!
We’ve checked with Home Depot and Lowe’s and their prices for hardware are higher than what you can get online. We’ll get tile from either of these, or a stone/tile store, or Costco, locally.
