My husband has always done an excellent job at remodeling and fix it jobs but where do we even begin? He has previously completely gutted and remodeled 2 bathrooms but the plumbing was already in place. Does it have to be done by a licensed professional?
We live very rural, no zoning etc. It is actually an old farm house we are renovating!

I hired a company thru Service Magic to remodel my hall bathroom. I had them tear down the walls and take out all of the existing tiles. I purchased marble tiles for the shower and glass tiles to be used as a border. After they "completed" the job I took a look at what they installed.

The border tile goes in and out. So if you slide your hand across it, your hand goes in a wave motion. I"m trying to explain this to the contractors and they are telling me that all glass tiles are installed this way…??? They are saying because it’s flexible it causes it to go in and out. Please help me.

Why did this happen. What can I say to them to make them understand that it was not installed properly?
In addition: I have ,000k left to pay them along with material.

Post bathroom remodel question?

About 4 weeks ago I had a complete bathroom remodel done, everything demo’ed and all new put in.

Is the grout supposed to get darker when the shower is in use? The old tile was not like that, also I keep discovering tiny holes in the grout, that weren’t there before.
Is either of these something to worry about, or will it cause me problems down the road?

I ended up having the contractors from hell, I had to double check everything thing they did, for 3-4 days in a rowI had a punch out sheet daily with between 15-20 items listed that needed to be done and/or corrected.
Are the things I mentioned regarding the grout just more to add for them to fix? I don’t think the grout was sealed, and I don’t know if that is part of the job or an add on, does anyone know what the industry standards ares?

Thank you in advance.

Tub w/ shower, vanity cab/sink/countertop, toilet, tiles on the floor and wall only around the tub up to the wall. Nothing fancy but nothing cheap either.

How much does it cost for the whole job include labor materials both?

Does it make a big difference to use cast iron tub or steel tub, price-wise?
please include a list of break downs for each item and labor seperately? thanks!!!

Does anyone know of a good and cheap (as in not ripping u off) contractors to do bathroom remodeling? My bathroom is quite small so I don’t think big contractors would want such a small job. Only have 5K budget for labor – i provide all materials. Give me contact info if you know someone you have used before and like. Thanks so much!

Ok. Here’s the issue. I had to tile around a window in the bathroom, including the window sill. This window is inside the bathtub/shower stall. Can I put some sort of white plastic trim around the edges of the window so it looks neat and tidy? I would like to have 45 degree angles at the corners too so it looks seamless. This is a DIY job, so of course, there was a tile that was not cut perfectly straight so now I would like to add plastic trim all the way around the window to make it look straight. Can you give me a name of the product or is it just some sort of generic trim you can buy at the hardware store.

I need to gut out the bathroom and replace everything. The only fixture I could or want to save is the toilet, which is the cheapest to replace. The floors and walls have water damage and cannot be salvaged. Plus, after putting insulation in the crawlspace, we found that the sewage pipe needs replaced as well. I definitely want to hire a professional for the job, but what is a realistic budget to work with?

How to price a bathroom remodel?

Contractors,

I am playing with the idea of starting my own little contracting firm. I have some theories on how to price out jobs but was wondering how you guys do it. Say I had a customer who wanted a bathroom remodel that included (assuming a 10X10 bathroom

Replace the vanity and sink, and fosset
replace the toilet
rip and replace floor tile,
rip and replace tile around the tub
rip and replace light fixture
rip and replace mirror
Paint the walls and ceiling

How would you guys price this job out?

Ok so this is the deal. About a year ago we hired a contractor to replace our bathtub with a jacuzzi tub. Well the guy was a douche and he installed the tub but didn’t do a great job. At first the caulk was separating from the tub, so he came back to fix it. But now every time I step on the bathroom floor it squeaks. It doesn’t matter where I step, in the tub, or just walking in the door the tub makes a god awful squeaking sound. And let’s just say that it is making me crazy. How can I go about fixing this? Is there a way to fix it at all? I am not sure if the tub even fits, or perhaps is rubbing against the tile to create this sound. But I would really like to know if it is something I can fix myself, perhaps remove the caulk and add some shims. Any suggestions from guys in the business?
Thanks!
It is not the floor, it is the tub. When I step on the floor, the tub moves and causes the squeaking.
Once again I will repeat that the floor does not squeak. IT IS THE TUB! When you walk, you can hear the tub move and squeak because it wasn’t put in properly. Thus I want to know how to fix the tub and make it stop squeaking. So please do not bother to reply if you are going to tell me it is the floor and not give a suggestion on how to fix the tub.

How to install a larger bathtub?

Well my wife and I just moved into a new house and she wants to install a bigger bathtub in the master bathroom. She said she doesn’t need it to be a jacuzzi tub just that she wants a larger tub. She wants me to do it. I’m a mechanic and I’m usually quite the handyman but I’m assuming that installing a bathtub is probably a pretty big job. Can anyone explain to me the way to do it or know of any sites that explain it so I can decide if this is too big of a job for me?
