Is this bathroom remodel estimate high?

My husband and I are looking to gut and replace our bathroom. It is currently very dated and requires a little plumbing updating. Part of the gutting will be removing an existing linen closet and a built-in vanity and a built-in hamper. The room is 6 by 9 feet with a standard-sized shower/tub insert. We plan on getting standard-grade replacement tub, shower insert, toilet, and vanity. Aside from some plumbing updating, there is no structural issues or any "catches".
We live near Boston, Ma. Our estimates for this project so far have been ,500 and ,700. Do these estimates sound high? We would like to do this ourselves (as we usually do everything ourselves) but we are expecting a baby very soon and we don’t have the time or ability to do it ourselves right now.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I am just now starting to finish my basement. When we built 2 yrs ago we had it prepped for a bathroom and a wet bar. We are starting at the bathroom, do we put the walls up first and have the plumber out before the walls go up? Do we want the sink/tub/toilet there for him or is that not necessary?
I guess my question is what steps do I take and in what order?
Thanks in Advance!!

My gf just bought a house and we’re having my dad do some remodeling on her bathroom. The floor area is about 30 or so sq ft, we’re having him remove all the tiles (over half way up the wall) replace the drywall on all three walls where the tile was, install ceramic tiles on the floor, and install a bath/shower kit, and no one is really sure how much to charge for the labor.

We’re also wondering if we should charge an hourly rate of some sort, or somehow figure out what to charge per item. Just looking for a general range. This kind of work is not really new for him since he has about 25 or so years of experience, so he knows what he’s doing for the most part.

Thanks in advance for any answers or suggestions you may have.
Thanks for the answers so far.

Here’s some additional details. We/he had to remove all of the tiles and lath for the walls, some reconstruction on the walls in addition to putting up new drywall (taping and floating), replaced seals for the toilet since it started leaking and replaced shutoff valves for the sink which were old. We’ve removed and replaced the sink and toilet once and will have to do it again to lay down the new floor.

We’ll probably paint it ourselves, but my modified question now is if you had to break down each item, how much should we charge for each, should we consider an hourly rate, or come up wih something else?

Altogether it looks like it’ll take about 20 hours… maybe more (up to 30?) Materials altogether will probably range between 0-0.

Any more thoughts?

how to install shower walls around a tub?

old plastic tiles are starting to come loose around my bathtub, so I would like to install bath fitter style walls around my tub. Should I remove the tiles, or just put the panels right over top of the old tiles? Also, how do I cut these panels, I need to make some notches to go around a window. Thanks in advance!

The medicine cabinets and shelves are a lovely maple wood construction. They are almost new and are very well made. So we want to keep them but I’m not sure what color of tile will look good with them.

Any one who supplies a link to color samples is more likely to win this one. Thanks in advance!
