We are semi-remodeling our bathroom. It’s very small, with a sink, toilet and tub/shower. There is also a large cabinet hanging on the wall that we are removing to make the room seem larger. We want to replace the cabinet with a shelf that doubles as a towel rack (although I’m a little worried because the studs are off centered and I’m afraid that hanging a shelf is going to be a problem). Anyway…what are some ways to make the space seem larger? We’re keeping the configuration the same.

My husband and I are looking to gut and replace our bathroom. It is currently very dated and requires a little plumbing updating. Part of the gutting will be removing an existing linen closet and a built-in vanity and a built-in hamper. The room is 6 by 9 feet with a standard-sized shower/tub insert. We plan on getting standard-grade replacement tub, shower insert, toilet, and vanity. Aside from some plumbing updating, there is no structural issues or any "catches".
We live near Boston, Ma. Our estimates for this project so far have been ,500 and ,700. Do these estimates sound high? We would like to do this ourselves (as we usually do everything ourselves) but we are expecting a baby very soon and we don’t have the time or ability to do it ourselves right now.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Last May, we paid ,000 to a contractor to totally gut the mastbath and replace everything because we had a leaky, old tub/shower combo. Well I just notice major water spots on the ceiling below. What could be leaking and what should we do? My husband thinks the tub is sealed very well, but we are at a loss and extremely upset because of the money that we have already spent.
Sorry, we think that tub is NOT sealed very well.

My laundry is inside of a very old and poor bathroom. I plan to first move the laundry to garage and then have the bathroom remodeled with tub/shower separated, of cause wall/floor tiles. I’m not looking for luxury features just new/clean is enough. So how much will cost, like only more the laundry, and labor of the bathroom remodeling.
I’m in San Francisco Bay area, but any other area should also provide the ideal I believe.
Thanks,
Chuck

I am looking to remodel my bathroom. The bathroom is very small! About 5 ft wide and 6 1/2ft long. Just to give you a visual of the layout-
when you walk in there is a tall cabinet to the left, a short/single sink vanity on the right, a normal toliet on the left next to the cabinet and the tub/shower is situated in the back of the bathroom. Our flooring is old and would probably need to be replaced as well. All in all, I would like to replace the floor&tile, vanity, shower, toliet, and add a different storage area. Please give me input about how much you think this would be or suggestions on design/layouts for the bathroom.

The bathroom needs a total makeover (vanity/walls/toilet/tub/shower). Most everything else we can handle, but I have no idea where to start with the walls. Any ideas? Thanks!

So I have a pretty large bathroom I’m planning to completely redo – lights, tub, shower, toilet, bidet, vanity with two sinks, floor, and walls. The only thing I’ve decided to leave alone is the ceiling and a closet (if possible). What recommendations would you make regarding the proper planning prior to any demolition? I’m just not sure where to begin! Maybe you have a book you’d recommend? I’m open to suggestions.

I currently have a tub/shower setup and I would like to install a shower panel which somehow still allows me to fill my bathtub with water too. How does the plumbing work in this case ? Do I need 2 diverters? Do I need to buy a shower panel with a tub spout built in? What type of flow rate do I need from the spout to effectively fill a standard 5ft x 2ft (or so) tub?
ps I looked on hgtv and diy.com so direct answers are needed please!

My bathtub is in good shape but the tub/shower surrond is horrible & I would like to replace it with something – either a new one or even possibly tile over the existing one – can tile be put over this or should we just install a new surround? and how difficult is this to do ourselves? Any help is much appreciated
