My husband and I are looking to gut and replace our bathroom. It is currently very dated and requires a little plumbing updating. Part of the gutting will be removing an existing linen closet and a built-in vanity and a built-in hamper. The room is 6 by 9 feet with a standard-sized shower/tub insert. We plan on getting standard-grade replacement tub, shower insert, toilet, and vanity. Aside from some plumbing updating, there is no structural issues or any "catches".
We live near Boston, Ma. Our estimates for this project so far have been ,500 and ,700. Do these estimates sound high? We would like to do this ourselves (as we usually do everything ourselves) but we are expecting a baby very soon and we don’t have the time or ability to do it ourselves right now.
Thanks in advance for any input.

We are remodeling the bathroom and removed the light fixture over the vanity. Now the outlets on either side of the vanity don’t work, and no power is getting to the wires sticking out of the wall where the light fixture used to be. None of the breakers tripped, but I flipped them all off and back on again just to be sure.
So what could have happened? Did something come loose behind the wall?

I have a 72 inch opening in my bathroom that needs a sink and vanity. Problem is that I am having hard time finding a new 72 inch single sink vanity. What would U do with that size a opening to finish your bathroom? I have no other cabinets in the bathroom. My bathroom is only a 10X7

ok so im remodeling my bathroom and i picked out a nice vanity but it doesn’t have a matching medicine cabinet, it has only a matching mirror (that doesn’t open)
so now im a little short on space, my friends and family suggest a bathroom cabinet but I think that’s a little tacky. Is it tacky? any good ideals for more space is welcome!

We want to replace laminant tile with ceramic, and replace a vanity sink with pedistel sink. We aren’t plumbers so curious if we should do sink or floor first. Also how difficult is the sink? I think we will leave the floor to experts.

I have the ugliest bathroom ever. My tub, toilet, and sink are blue. My walls are purple and bright. My vanity looks like it stepped out of the 80′s and my floor is that ugly fake wood. Heres my questions
*how much will it costs to remodel ( i want to gut it and replace everything. also i want to add shelves for more storage.)
*how long will it usually take
*where can i shop to save on costs
*last my bathroom is small. I want to paint the walls like a cream/tan color. put it a dark wood vanity and have the traditional white sink, toilet, and tub. I want to add marble looking tile on the floors and around the tub for back splash instead of having the normal porcelin shower thing on wall around tub(not sure what that thing is called sorry). And i want a lght tan shower curtain and rug. The mirror i want to match with the dark wood vanity. Do u think that will be ok or too many nuetral colors for such a small space. I plan on adding recess lighting also to brighten it up and some flowers and oil lamp on the shelves to add color. Any suggestions would be appreciated thx
maybe instead of marble looking tile i will uses tan stone looking tile. idk i need suggestions.. what do u guys think

I am remodeling my bathroom and want to move the sink area over by a few inches. I am not handy at all so I’d like to know if it’s possible to move the location of the sink by just redoing the plumbing underneath the sink that attaches to the sink bottom. I have a bowl sink that is set into a vanity. I am hoping to move the location of the new vanity over by a few inches so that means the current plumbing under the sink will be off. How easy is it to get everything realigned?

I need to remodel my bathroom and install a jacuzzzi tub (floor, vanity, shower, etc.) and I want something better than the things you find at Lowe’s or Menards or Home Depot, but am afraid of the prices in smaller stores. Any suggestions? I live in the Carmel area. Thanks!

Tub w/ shower, vanity cab/sink/countertop, toilet, tiles on the floor and wall only around the tub up to the wall. Nothing fancy but nothing cheap either.
How much does it cost for the whole job include labor materials both?
Does it make a big difference to use cast iron tub or steel tub, price-wise?
please include a list of break downs for each item and labor seperately? thanks!!!

Remodeling bathroom, everything is going except tub. Replacing walls, new tile floor/shower, new fixtures, remove old window from bathroom shower, new sink, toilet, vanity, light fixtures, install fan/vent and beadboard/wainscoating. I was given a ballpark of 9-11k including materials we pick out,, detailed estimate in a couple days. Bathroom is not big. Price seems fair but i know nothing about construction. Any thoughts would be helpful

I am looking to remodel my bathroom. The bathroom is very small! About 5 ft wide and 6 1/2ft long. Just to give you a visual of the layout-
when you walk in there is a tall cabinet to the left, a short/single sink vanity on the right, a normal toliet on the left next to the cabinet and the tub/shower is situated in the back of the bathroom. Our flooring is old and would probably need to be replaced as well. All in all, I would like to replace the floor&tile, vanity, shower, toliet, and add a different storage area. Please give me input about how much you think this would be or suggestions on design/layouts for the bathroom.
Here are links of some stuff i like-

So I have a pretty large bathroom I’m planning to completely redo – lights, tub, shower, toilet, bidet, vanity with two sinks, floor, and walls. The only thing I’ve decided to leave alone is the ceiling and a closet (if possible). What recommendations would you make regarding the proper planning prior to any demolition? I’m just not sure where to begin! Maybe you have a book you’d recommend? I’m open to suggestions.

We are considering some remodeling and are hoping to get some opinions.
The house has two bedrooms, 12×12 and 10×12 and one small bathroom, 5×7 with no cabinets or storage in it at all. We really want the bathroom a little bigger to fit an actual vanity. The only option would be to take some space away from the 12×12 bedroom. We aren’t sure if that would be a good idea, or if it would hurt us if we had to sell in the future. ?

We were quoted some very high prices for simple bathroom remodeling. no moving walls, just replace fixtures, new vanity..prices were 20-30 thousand dollars. We are considering doing all except the permit required work ourselves..any comments on this? Can we do it??

I am moving into my first home and I have a few questions about remodeling the main floor bathroom:
1) There is an awkward old built-in cabinet above the sink that makes it so that the mirror is not directly over the sink. I would like to just seal that cabinet off. The walls are drywall–how could I patch/seal this?
2) Inside of the weird cabinet is a dimmer switch for the lights above the vanity. I would like to rewire this so that the vanity light can be switch on/off from the switchplate by the door of the bathroom. Currently, there is a single switch that controls the overhead fan–can I make this into a double switchplate and have the light and fan control by the door?
Thanks for the help!
How do I move the wiring from behind the wall near the cabinet all the way to the door? I know this may be a dumb question, but I don’t know anything about this stuff
Also…would it be expensive to have an electrician do it?

Contractors,
I am playing with the idea of starting my own little contracting firm. I have some theories on how to price out jobs but was wondering how you guys do it. Say I had a customer who wanted a bathroom remodel that included (assuming a 10X10 bathroom
Replace the vanity and sink, and fosset
replace the toilet
rip and replace floor tile,
rip and replace tile around the tub
rip and replace light fixture
rip and replace mirror
Paint the walls and ceiling
How would you guys price this job out?

Includes removing and replacing the old walls, new tub, floor, vanity, sink, medicine cabinet, electrical work and plumbing. Also tile work in the tub area and a new diverter so the hot and cold water is adjusted with one valve. All labor included.
